What are the steps needed to become an Aberdeen licensed driver?
To become a licensed driver with Aberdeen City Council, you must satisfy four requirements before submitting an application.
- Be able to provide evidence of the right to live and work in the UK.
- You must have held your full UK driving licence for a minimum of 12 months.
- Be fit to drive (to DVLA Group 2 medical standards)
- Pass the Council’s Street Knowledge Test.
Once you have satisfied the above, an application can be submitted. More information can be found on the Aberdeen City Council website.

Along with the tutors, you will also have access to the wider team at ComCab to help guide you every step of the way. The ComCab Training School will mentor you and provide unrivaled knowledge and support, and answer any questions you may have about your new career path.
Where is the ComCab Training School?
The ComCab Training School is situated at ComCab’s head office, Burnside Drive, Dyce, Aberdeen. AB21 0HW. There is free parking on-site.
Is remote learning an option?
Yes, however this can only be achieved once candidates have met certain requirements and attainments. We would advise candidates to attend study sessions at least once a week, this allows candidates to progress faster and be able to ask questions, and get hints and tips from our experienced tutors.
When are the study sessions?
The ComCab Taxi Training School operates two evenings a week, on a Tuesday and a Thursday.
How long will it take for me to be ready to sit the Street Knowledge Test?
Every candidate is different, and some will progress faster than others. We would recommend that for candidates to give themselves the best chance of success, they attend the weekly study session at our Taxi Training School, and follow the guidance of our tutors.
What is the cost of the ComCab Taxi Training School?
Candidates pay £50 on week one, this includes registration and administration fees and the first weeks training fee. The weekly fee from week two, will be £25 per week. Our price promise is that ComCab candidates will NOT pay more than £500. Once a candidate has paid for 19 weeks, they can continue to attend study sessions for free until they pass the Street Knowledge Test. As part of the ComCab Taxi Training School, we will also cover the cost of your first Aberdeen City Council Street Knowledge test fee.
When can I start?
We have a rolling enrollment process, as long as we have space on the course, you can start training almost straight away.
